These core values have taken a life time to acquire and each and every one of them is in constant evolution. Many have been inspired by other great thinkers and revolutionaries. Here are a collection of core values that guide my actions in daily life as of 13/03/14.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
I don’t talk about being the change I want to see more of in the world, I take action stepstowards making change. I am an active participant in making this world a place I would like to be a part of. It is my responsibility as a citizen of this planet to actively set an example of love, compassion and kindness. Any action no matter how big or small makes a difference in making the world a place I can be proud to be a part of.
Give love.
A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle and I loose nothing by giving love, sharing love, discussing love and expressing love. I am not afraid of the emotion, nor am I too busy to show it to others. Love is an essential building block for authentic human connection to exist and I breathe it in daily life. When I give love, I get love.
There are no mistakes, only lessons.
All I experience is part of my life journey and I need to go through certain events in my life in order to become who I need to be. Mistakes and failures are only labels I place on events that happen based on attachments to results I am yet to achieve. I am committed to the result, not to the number of lessons or events required before learning how to surf the wave of life.
The grass is always greenest here and now.
Where I focus my attention quickly becomes my internal and external reality. I want a happy positive life so I focus on what I am grateful for, what I love, what I enjoy, what others enjoy, who makes me happy, why they make me happy and how I can have more of it in my life! Sure I make plans and look forward to things in the future but I live in the nowappreciating the good stuff I already have!
Accept a book by its cover and then read its pages.
People are presenting themselves constantly, if they follow a religion, fit a stereotype, wear their hair in a certain way, do a strange thing with their clothing, laugh in an odd way I accept that person for what ever it is they are trying to present. It’s only when others feel accepted in their own skin that they actually start to present the real pages of their inner charms.
Know yourself and accept yourself.
If there was anything I learned from the 5 regrets of the dying it’s that life is too short to spend it trying to please others expectations. By exploring, focusing and harnessingcharacter strengths within myself I take steps closer towards becoming all that I can be. I am my most beautiful when I have accepted myself fully.
Cultivate the body, mind and soul.
Before I even think about listening to others I must first be strong within myself. This world is full of people, ideas and adverts trying to tell me what to do with my time, how I should look and what I should do. Eating healthy food, exercising and taking time to think, reflect and write in silence are all vital points for cultivating a balanced body, mind and soul.
Do the most important thing first.
Before checking social media or email I start the day by creating a list of things that need to be done and jump straight to the most important task of the day. Once I start the day having done the most important thing I have the whole day to think about the easier tasks. Anything can happen later in the day so I do the most important thing first!
Live your dreams.
When I follow my dreams then I have something worth sharing with others, hope, inspiration and a meaning to live, and that to me, is a great contribution. The more I chase and accomplish my dreams the more the lines of the boundaries that the world puts in front of me fade, as I learn that anything and everything is possible. Through accomplishing my dreams I redefine the experience of failure and learn that it is just a part of the journey to success and that it was all worth it in the end.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
Much of life’s most valuable insights have been learned when i’ve put myself out of my comfort zone and into the unknown. Fortune favours the bold and appreciation for all that I ever loved takes on a new definition the moment i’m taken away from it. When I enter new and foreign situations it’s a true test of character and personal ability. I use this knowledge of self as a checkpoint for daily guidance. A ship is safe in harbour, but that’s not what ships are for.
Amazing friends, amazing life.
I move away from people who hold me back and toward people who propel me forward. I am constantly looking for opportunities to give value, not take value from others. By surrounding myself in amazing people i’m better able to serve the world and help others live their best lives. We are tribal based homo-sapiens designed to function best when we are together working towards common goals. Successful tribes depend upon a diversity of talent not a singular definition of ability. Being creative, doing work that matters, having emotional stability, achieving dreams and gaining perspective is multiplied the moment I combine forces with others who care. I shine my light in all directions, like a neon star and move toward those who appreciate my warmth, to shine on them more brightly. The world is filled with passionate, inspiring, incredible people. It’s also filled with complainers, cheaters, freeloaders, and energy vampires who will suck the life out of me if I let them. I have the power to choose which group to let into my life.
Share gifts with the world
Life is a gift that loved ones helped bring me with as much love, good health and possibility as possible. It is my responsibility to pass what gifts I have onto others just as previous generations have done for me. I start by giving and do not need to compare my gifts to others, I just need to know what things I am good at and how I can use them to bring value into the lives of others. I must not forget the significance and positive benefits gifting provides!
I trust myself to do the best with this knowledge to make our world a better place,
